Shurna turned and walked backwards. "It's wonderful to see you, Jitta. My heart won't behave being this close to home." She turned back around, smiled and nodded at the women working around the makeshift table, then left the shade of the yard for the heat of the field.
The face that lifted and stared as Shurna approached was remarkably unchanged from their childhood days in Kaytron. Suddenly, Shurna felt older and too much changed; felt disconnected from a past that didn't feel like hers.
